Everyone here at Legacy RV Center has been waiting on pins and needles for this day. The Sonic X by Venture RV (a division of long time industry leader KZ-RV) is the newest and most innovative off road, off grid travel trailer in the industry, and this afternoon the first 2 arrived on our lot. We first saw a concept of what would become Sonic X this past February at the national RVX convention, at the Salt Palace convention center in Salt lake City, Utah. This is a convention where the RV manufacturers of the US and Canada can pull out all the stops and show case some of their most innovative concepts and designs. At the time the Sonic X concept build had a carbon fiber body and real leather interior, as well as some of the most sophisticated off grid electrical and water features ever seen in this class of travel trailer. While they ended up dropping the carbon fiber body panels and the real leather interior in order to bring a product to market that was affordable for the average consumer, they kept and in fact improved on all of the best features.
this trailer is designed with a specific RV’er in mind. This modern marvel of engineering is built for people who want to unplug and get off the beaten path in any conditions, at any time of year, in any weather, and be able to do it without the use of generators, portable solar arrays, or carrying auxiliary tanks of water with them. Lets take the features of this awesome go anywhere trailer one at a time
First We’re going to talk about the off Road features of this trailer. because lets face it, Its a trailer, and if you can’t get that trailer to the remote places the adventurous back country explorer in you wants to go, then the rest is all fluff. The Sonic X is equipped with 15″ aluminum alloy wheels with all terrain mud tires. these are attached to a independent torsion axle suspension. this combination will give the added ground clearance needed while providing smoother ride so that the items you pack in your trailer stay where you packed them. They have equipped the under belly with a steel skid plate to protect holding tanks from rocks and terrain that in X-treme situations could impact the under side of the trailer. It is also equipped with 360 degree tubular brush guards, and two high def LED light bars situated on the roof on the front and rear. It is also equipped with 4 independent, electric stabilizer jacks so that you can park and camp in uneven terrain.
Second lets talk about the Off the Grid features of this amazing trailer. Once you drove to the remote campsite of your dreams there is no bigger let down then running out of battery power or water. Sonic X has you covered! It is Equipped with a state of the art electrical system, starting with the “gas station” in the form of a 400 watt flat panel solar array on the roof, regulated with a sophisticated MPPT solar charge controller. But what good is a good “gas station” with out a tank big enough to hold the juice? no worries here, we have a 250 amp hour lithium ION battery bank to hold all that Electrical “Juice” produced by the solar array. And finally its all only as good as the “engine” Driving the whole system and this electrical “engine” is a ferrari, in the form of the GO Power IC 2000 inverter/charger. This inverter/charger is designed to run everything in the coach by utilizing the power produced by the solar and stored in the lithium ION battery bank, NO GENERATOR, NO SHORE POWER REQUIRED. they have topped this off by putting an 11k BTU high efficiency Air Conditioner on the roof to keep you cool when you find yourself camping on that remote beach! When you have a trailer that can supply electricity to itself long enough for you to forget what day it is, you are going to need plenty of water on board. Again they have you covered. Not only do they have a best in class water capacity at almost 80 gallons, But they are equipped with their patent pending “Infinity water system”. This unique water filtration system allows you to use the trailers on board, high capacity water pump, to siphon lake or river water through 2 micron filter and into the fresh water tank! there is nothing else like it on the market!
Third, with all these features and accessories you might wonder, “is there any room left for storage?”, there is far more than you would think. with their Sonic X-treme storage system, there is ample room for all your regular camping, fishing, and hunting gear along with a lot of other stuff you wouldn’t get in even the largest travel trailers on the market. Starting with pass through storage compartment, and additional side storage with an exclusive garage wall storage system, as well as front tongue bike rack, and a triple tube bumper with flat rack, bike rack, and even kayak rack. but if that wasn’t enough they have included in the a hidden gun/fishing pole cabinet and in the 220vrbx a hidden personal safe!
